Who's lining up for Dulles District Supervisor?

Today is Memorial Day. It's time to bring some truth to Loudoun Politics. Unlike others who like to use the Blogosphere for providing false information and propaganda for their own agendas, today we have a new resource for truth. The first topic of discussion will be who is lining up for the Dulles District Supervisor Special Election, how will a special election be determined and implemented, and who is likely to win.

There are a number of individuals lining up for this position. I will try to list all of them, but if you know someone else who might be interested, please feel free to list them in the comments.

Republican possibilities:

Barbara Munsey: She is the former planning commissioner for Dulles District under Steve Snow. She has an activist history fighting for schools in Dulles South and was involved in both the Freedom High School acquisition and the Lenah Run proposal. She also was involved as planning commissioner in the approval and denial of numerous new commercial and residential developments in Loudoun during the peak of its growth spurt. Lately, she is writing editorials for the Dulles South community for Loudoun Independent and actively blogging on numerous blog sites.

Robert Dupree: Mr. Dupree is the current Dulles District representative to the School Board and also serves as the Board Chairman. Mr. Dupree was elected on a premise of acquiring school sites for all districts and the expansion of the school system. Many of the acquisition sites proposed over the last year have been highly controversial. The Lenah site was criticized for being too far out in the more rural area and so is the current proposed Wheatland Farm site. There were are few other sites that were voted down for being too costly. Mr. Dupree is criticized for his relationships with the NVBIA (Northern Virginia Building Industry Association) and his role as a paid lobbiest when employed indirectly by NVBIA. This relationship has led a few community members to accuse Mr. Dupree of pushing an agenda that would allow home builders to expand their developments at the cost of the tax payers.

Mr. Dupree was actually employed as a staff person for a retired Democratic Congressman from Florida. When Dupree left as a Staffer, the said Congressman was under investigation for Federal procurement fraud. The Congressman was never convicted, however it led to his resignation from office. This job positions Mr. Dupree as either a Democrat or Republican even though his business alliances would more aptly designate him Republican. In this regard, we list him as a possible Republican candidate, but he has been known to keep in touch with top democrats as a means to keep his options open.

Jeff Morse: Jeff Morse is currently the President of the South Riding Proprietary. He currently has the second largest constituency in the Dulles District as an "elected" person. He was actively involved with the possible acquisition of the Lenah Run school site and other issues that might effect his South Riding community. Jeff is close friends with School Board Chairman Robert Dupree and it is believed that he was being pushed by Mr. Dupree to support the Lenah School site despite its controversial location and cost. Jeff might run as a Republican in a special election to replace supervisor Miller.

This is Part I in a series of possible replacements for the Dulles District Supervisor position. It will like be a hotly contested race as it could return the Board to Republican control (when the moderate Republican "Independents" are taken into consideration. I will return with more on the other side of the aisle once we get some feedback on the above.
